Shari, we just moved into an apartment and I’m sitting here looking at open, unmatched boards on shelving strips...the kind you can adjust the height on? My husband installed them in the sink area of “my” very small bathroom. I am planning to cover the unmatched boards using this idea in order to match the curtains which I hung for a room divider / privacy guard! Cannot wait to see it and I’ll post pics if possible to do so. It’s so nice to read all of your tips and everyone’s feedback! Xo

FRIDAY LAUGHS: Hahahah! Most of us women can absolutely understand the hairspray comment! Hahahah. I cleaned house for a woman with a teen beauty queen (seriously amazing girl) and the bath room was so covered in hairspray that dust coated EVERYTHING...and it took six hours to clean and I lost that client! Ha. I don’t know if I cost too much, mom thought I made it up, or they were embarrassed! It was funny to realize what certain brands do and act as spray glue! Ha (very old brands...) and what they will do to a house!!!

On subject - side note: my music minister decorated her office with a gorgeous flowered upholstery fabric floral pattern which was a very heavy dry clean only fabric and was stunning!!! I can’t guarantee anything for anyone else... but it was absolutely so beautiful. If it’s used for the wall (no big future plans for the fabric in case it fails), and starched with pure starch as she did it, it works.! However, I’d say try a few large swatches on a small area and see if it shrinks or colors run. :)) blessings! Jinn A

Hi. Just did this for the 1st time today. Followed a tutorial of somebody who says he does this professionally. He didn't apply starch to wall 1st or dip fabric as other tutorials I have found. He just tacked it up and saturated by rolling so that's what I did. No matter how many times I have tried, I keep getting bubbles every time it dries. Frustrated. I didn't try your paint brush method because I just found your tutorial while trying to trouble shoot. I tried my hand, credit card and even re-rolling. Will try oaint brush next. Desperate!

Hi everyone! I'm renting a place with wall to wall wood paneling and really want to try this trick. I'm terrified of damaging the walls though. Has anyone tried this with wood paneling and checked for damage after removing it? I'd love to hear your experience!

Hi Victoria! No, never tried it on a ceiling....I'm not sure the starch would be strong enough and while it's wet, I'm not sure how you would keep it up there. I think I'd be afraid to try that one, but let us know if you do!

Megan, I'm so sorry to say this, but I think the bright orange paint just might bleed through! I've done this starching technique half a dozen times over a flat or satin paint finish, but always light or neutral colors with no ramifications at all. I just am not sure about the orange. Is there a closet with the same orange that you could try it on before going to the bedroom walls?

Hi Shari!

I love this idea but I am renting a house and the walls of my bedroom are a bring orange with a white texture over the orange. I wanted to use a pretty white floral fabric over the walls but I wasn't sure if the orange paint will bleed onto the white fabric or if if the paint would be damaged when the fabric is peeled away. What do you recommend? Thanks!
