This is so cute! I am making quilts for two of my granddaughters, one is pink & lime green colors and the other is lavender & light yellows with lots of butterflies. I plan to sew strips together of the colors to make the quilt bindings and now will trim pillowcases with the above colors. Love the new web site and all the ideas you pass on to us.

Yes, Sharon, thank you for mentioning that. You almost have to treat this like a quilting project where you wash the fabrics before getting started!

Kim, I don't know how you can start a new topic either, hahaha, I'll see if I can find out and make it possible! On the Tee shirt quilt - OMG!! I'm doing the same thing. so far I've cut out the designs on the front and I've also cut the same size squares out of the backs of the Tee shirts to give me extra blocks and I've sewn them all together. I just haven't added a back or the batting. I'll put that on my list of projects to write about so you can see what I'm doing and maybe it will help you!

Congrats on the great new website, Shari and Matt! I didn't know how to start a new topic, but this is still about sewing...Over the years I've saved my kids' tee shirts that had favorite logos. My "kids" are now 33 and 28 and I'd love to make tee shirt quilts for them for next Christmas (I figure that NOW is the time to start thinking about the quilts.) I do have my mother's old Singer sewing machine, but haven't sewn since high school home ec. classes (!) Do you have any suggestions on how to make this a fairly easy and doable project for me? Is there any way I could sew the squares onto an existing plain quilt? (That sounds dopey, I know, and probably wouldn't work!) Thanks so much! - Kim

One other consideration is whether the colored fabrics are color safe. Will they bleed onto the base fabric?

I have done something similar on Roman shades only my fabric strips wiggled over one another in random patterns. Looks very cool, brings a shot of color to an otherwise plain, utilitarian window treatment.
