Lavender Wreath

If you like the idea of making a bunch of small statements around the house instead of just one big one, then this little lavender wreath is the perfect project for you.  This could be a lovely hostess gift, teacher gift, even something just right for saying, “I’m thinking of you!”

Materials List:

  • Foam wreath form
  • Sprigs of faux lavender
  • Wire cutter
  • Awl or pen
  • Hot glue gun
  • Ribbon
  • Florist’s wire

Instructions:

1.  Cut the lavender stems down to short sprigs and create a pile of them to work from.

2.  Using the awl or a pen create a small hole in the foam on an angle in the direction you want the sprigs to go.  Get out the hot glue gun and put a dab of glue inside the hole.

3.  Quickly, while the glue is still hot, insert the end of a sprig of lavender into the hole making sure it is leading in the direction you want.  You may have to push it into the foam on a slightly different angle to get it to lie nicely.

Continue in this fashion, adding more and more lavender until you get the look you want.

4.  I created a simple bow using narrow ribbon and some florist’s wire.  I twisted the wire to make it more rigid and stuck it into the foam.  I added a drop of hot glue to hold it in place.

On the back of the form I did the same with a small loop so I could hang the mini-wreath from door knobs and tiny hooks.

This adorable wreath looks great resting on a plate stand as the focal point of a table grouping.

Try hanging it over a guest towel.  It can be pinned through the ribbon onto the back of the towel.

It’s just as pretty hanging on the wall from a tiny nail or hook.

Or, dress up your china cabinet for the season with something as lovely as this lavender heart.  It brightens up any surface it touches!

What a "sweet" idea. I will be making one of these darling little wreaths this weekend. It will look perfect in my recently re-decorated shabby chic guest bedroom.

Hi Patricia!

I will love to hear how this project works for you. I found it was a bit messy!

other than the loss of that wonderful lavendar scent artificial lavendar is a far better choice for this project. smilies/smiley.gif
